Romeow and Mewliette?

You may not believe your eyes, but it would appear that Loaf and Lump have chosen to nap together!

Let's go in for a close-up, shall we, O doubters?

Yeeeeep, there it is!

Rarely do they even choose to be in such proximity to each other while conscious, let alone while asleep!

Lump snoozes contently, dreaming undoubtedly of world peace.

So blissfully unaware of the slumbering Loafbeast nearby...

Loaf for the first time seems to have cast aside her prejudices against the Lump, overcome with the desire for a siesta.

Lump dozes away, completely at ease, but something catches Loaf's attention.

This in turn wakes the Lump, who rises to spin around and reposition himself - only to end up virtually nose-to-nose with Loaf!

A moment of tension hangs in the air - will there be a confrontation, like every encounter before?

The Lump wishes no trouble, and curls up again to sleep.

Loaf, deciding it's not worth it, returns to her nap as well.

Sweet dreams, kittehs!

P.S. Totally not an April Fool's prank. I am not that good with Photoshop. This is real, people!

Such a ferocious hunter...

Thesis Hiatus

Hello, throngs of adoring fans,

Meg and I each have a rapidly approaching D-Day (i.e., Oral Defense for M. S. degree), so it's pretty likely there won't be any more entries until the beginning of April when thesis writing is all over and we both pass our defenses.

So be patient, and have a baby Lump picture to hold yourselves over.

Look at that little fuzzy belly!

Okay, I lied. Have two. He was just so darn tiny!

See y'all later!

Lounging at the Catfé

On weekends, Loaf and Lump like to reserve their favorite table by the sunny window for a nice brunch.

Too bad they're not allowed to eat any people food. That's a big no-no.

Slurp or Not?

We bring you a very special weekend edition of Nom or Not entitled "Slurp or Not"!

Tonight's beverage, for our 21-and-up readers, is a papaya colada with fresh ginger and whipped cream.

It would appear Loaf is a bit of a lush!

She was later caught flirting with Thomas. Obviously, tipsy.

Not surprisingly, Lump enjoyed his taste too.

Papaya coladas get a double "om nom nom" from the kitties, and six thumbs up from the humans!

Nom or Not? (Episode 2)

We're back with another round of Nom or Not!

We have our judges, Lump and Loaf:

Next, let's review the rules:

Complete apathy toward the offered food item will be scored a "Meh."
A food item which garners intense sniffing or licking is designated a "Nom."
Consumption of two full bites of the food item will be classified as an "Om nom."
Rapid inhalation and subsequent enjoyment of a food item is termed an "Om nom nom!"

Today's nom-off will begin with...

Bacon-flavored tempeh strips!

Lump rushed in for the first taste.

That looks suspiciously like an om nom nom! But let's ask Loaf what she thinks.

Her initial assessment seems to be "om nom."

However, with the small sample size, it's only fair to give both kitties another taste, right?

"Heeeeeerrrreeee, Loafy Loaf!"

That would appear to be a definite "om nom nom!"

No doubt about it, folks: tempeh bacon is a double om nom nom.

Our next nibblet will be the oft-miscategorized fruit, the tomato:

Lump surprisingly says just nom.

And Loaf concurs.

Well, folks, that's it for today's Nom or Not!

...Or is it?

Saturday Morning with Lump & Loaf

Welcome to Loaf's and Lump's house!

There's extra-strong coffee in the carafe, Meg's making scrambled eggs in a bread basket, and Loaf is busy charging at Jehovah's witnesses who come to the door (while Lump hides under the comforters).

All in all, just a typical Saturday morning.

The Top 6 Ways to Store Your Lump

#6: In a bag. Paper or plastic will do.

#5: In your suitcase.

#4: In the linen closet, next to the toilet paper.

#3: In your violin case.

#2: In the bathtub.

Preferably a dry one.

And the #1 way to store your Lump is... obviously, in a box.

Any box will do.

Oh, come on Lump, that's not even a box yet!

Much better.

Remember, storing your Lump in any other fashion voids the manufacturer's warranty. It's right there in the Cat Owner's Manual.

...What, your cat didn't come with a manual?

Loaf's English Dictionary

Like dogs, cats can learn the meaning of English words when they hear them enough.

For example, a dog can learn to recognize the word "car," and get excited about driving around town with its tongue flopping in the breeze. To that dog, the definition of "car" is "moving tongue-flapping thing," or something along those lines.

Similarly, cats attach their own unique meanings to words they hear their people say.

Lump recognizes the word "walk." Upon hearing this word, he will usually sprint to the back door, where his leash is hanging, and jingle it insistently until you take him outside.

To Loaf, "treats" used to mean "that time of night when I follow Kelly out of the bathroom into her bedroom, and wait expectantly for her to give me a treat, which I seize, often chomping her fingertips in the process."

However, tonight, a new definition was added. "Treats" is when Kelly sticks her hand out and Loaf bites her fingertips - whether or not a treat is actually present.

Oh, Loaf...
